How to Apply for Admission
The admission and registration process for international students at IUST involves the following steps:

  1. Application Submission: All applications must be submitted exclusively through the university's dedicated portal at http://admission.iust.ac.ir.
  2. Application Review: Upon complete submission with clear and required documents, applications for master's programs are reviewed within one week, and for doctoral programs within seven weeks. Acceptance letters are then sent via email from admissioniust.ac.ir.
  3. Post-Acceptance Procedure: Accepted students must register their intent to study in Iran through the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology's portal at http://old.saorg.ir:8081. The ministry typically issues the necessary enrollment permit within 20 days. Enrollment at the university is contingent upon receiving this permit.
  4. No Application Fee: The entire application and admission process is free of charge.
Enrollment Requirements
  1. Valid Foreign Passport: Applicants must hold a valid foreign passport and not possess Iranian citizenship.
  2. Minimum GPA for Master's Applicants: A minimum undergraduate GPA of 12 out of 20 (60 out of 100) is required. Exceptions are made for certain Iraqi universities where a GPA of 58.5 or higher is acceptable, and for universities like Baghdad, Al-Mustansiriya, and Kufa, a GPA of 57 or higher is acceptable, based on rankings in the student affairs system.
  3. Minimum GPA for Doctoral Applicants: A minimum master's GPA of 14 out of 20 (70 out of 100) is required. If the undergraduate GPA is between 11 and 12 (55 to 60 out of 100), the combined GPA of both degrees must exceed 13 out of 20 (130 out of 200).
  4. Acceptance Letter: Applicants must provide the acceptance letter received from IUST.
  5. Enrollment Permit: Before attending in person, applicants should ensure that the enrollment permit from the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology has been received by the university.
  6. Tuition Fees: For students admitted up to the 2023-2024 academic year, the tuition per semester is €800 for undergraduate programs, €900 for master's programs, and €1,100 for doctoral programs. For those admitted from the 2024-2025 academic year onwards, the fees are €800, €1,000, and €1,200 respectively. Tuition is based on exchange rates available at https://fxmarketrate.ir.
Persian Language Proficiency
  • Master's Applicants: Must provide a Persian language proficiency certificate (AMFA) at the intermediate level after admission, along with other required documents. If only a basic level certificate is held, students can enroll by committing to complete the intermediate level within the first academic year. The university assists in referring these students to Persian language centers for in-person or virtual courses.
  • Doctoral Applicants: If lacking any Persian language certificate but possessing a satisfactory level of English proficiency, applicants can enroll by providing a valid English language certificate. Their courses and educational activities will be conducted in English. If deemed necessary by the university, these students may be required to attend supplementary English courses. Additionally, they must present a basic level Persian language certificate within the first academic year. The university offers assistance in enrolling in Persian language courses as needed.
Important Notes
  • A Persian language proficiency certificate is mandatory for graduation. Without it, master's students cannot defend their thesis.
  • The university facilitates the process for students needing to improve their Persian language skills, offering support for both in-person and virtual courses.
